KOHAMAJIMA / YAEYAMA

Where the wind ends,
the sea begins.

The wind that stirred the sugarcane leaves crosses the island and slips out to the coral sea. A stay that follows its path.

TOUCH THE LAGOON

An island in between

In the middle
of the Yaeyamas.

Know Kohama Island itself Another inn on this island — An Inn in a Garden of Stars

Kohama Island lies about 25 minutes by high-speed ferry from Ishigaki. At its center, a hill and sugarcane fields; beyond them, the Sekisei Lagoon, Japan’s largest coral reef. Time here does not end at the sea. Like the wind, you move between the island’s inside and its outside.

01 / Across the island

Through the fields.

Ride the rolling island slowly by e-bike. Sugar Road, the hill of Ufudaki, the village. No hurry toward the sea — time to learn the smell of the fields and the outline of the island.

For rental bicycles, island bus tours and other ways around the island, check availability on the official site.

02 / Sekisei Lagoon

Under the water,
another landscape.

The Sekisei Lagoon surrounds Kohama Island. Not only the blue of the surface — the world of coral and fish beneath it is part of this place’s scenery.

Paddle out to the reef

Canoe, snorkel, dive. Listen to the weather and the sea, and meet the water the day allows.

A beach for doing nothing

On the beach beside the hotel, return to the speed of the island wind.

The margin of evening

When the playing is done, stay here until the sea changes color.

03 / A private base

A quiet base
for playing the island.

Villa-style rooms scattered across spacious grounds. Bring home the blues and greens you found outside, and rest until the next island hour.

ROOMS60 rooms in total. The villa-style rooms are all suites.
WATERTwo pools, and one beach adjacent to the hotel.
ACCESSAbout 25 minutes by ferry from Ishigaki Port, then about 10 minutes by shuttle bus from Kohama Port.
