ON THE TIDE
Minshuku Kuroshima is listed as an inn on Kuroshima by Okinawa Story (Okinawa’s official tourism site), at 1948 Aza-Kuroshima, Taketomi Town. Checking its official pages and Okinawa Story (2026-07-19): Nakamoto Coast is a five-minute walk away, property-wide WiFi is free, and both bicycles and life jackets can be borrowed at no charge. Rates change, however, and the room count is not published. This proposal marks the island’s day not by the clock but by the rise and fall of the tide. If you swim at Nakamoto Coast, aim for the two hours either side of low tide.
01 / WAKING WITH THE LOW TIDE
On this island you read the tide table before the alarm clock. To swim at Nakamoto Coast, aim for the two hours around low tide; wear a life jacket and always swim with a partner — keep only that, and the morning Inoh is a quiet natural pool. About 25 to 30 minutes by high-speed boat from Ishigaki Port, the day begins at the island’s clearest hour.
02 / FIVE MINUTES TO THE INOH
By its official pages and Okinawa Story, Nakamoto Coast is a five-minute walk from the inn. Step out still in your swimsuit and wade into the inside of the low-tide reef — the Inoh. The shadow of a fish, a shard of coral, the pools the retreating tide leaves behind. Less a destination than a continuation of the inn, this is where the brightest hours of noon are spent.
03 / AS THE TIDE COMES IN
The low-tide pool returns to the sea with the hours. The sand path you could walk sinks under water, and the Inoh becomes the open sea again — you watch that filling-in from the shore. An evening where the sea simply moves as the tide table says. That hour in which nothing happens is, this proposal holds, the luxury of this inn.

Okinawa Story’s listing describes swaying in a rooftop hammock and looking up at the night sky. What you will see is not promised — the weather and the moon are the day’s own. What is certain is only that a day trip can never be on the island at this hour. Sway in the hammock and simply be under the night sky: that alone is enough for a night.
